The Deal Not MadeIn fantasy football, sometimes the deal not made is the starting point to domination of your league. Last week, I was looking for deals for DeAngelo Williams. I knew that his next two match-ups against the Bucs and Bills would be pretty easy. I let it be known that I would talk, but nothing definite would take place. I had a few nibbles. Matt Forte could have been had. Fortunately, I paced my ambitions and watched DeAngelo put up a 30 point weekend.
I did the same with Thomas Jones. Analysts were saying Leon Washington was taking over and Shonne Greene was just a matter of time. Well, Jones set a Jet record so I don’t think he will be benched any time soon.
On the contrary, sometimes it is just time to move a player. After the first week debacle of LaDainian Tomlinson, I did move him out for a two player trade while he still had value. I received Hines Ward and Larry Johnson. Even though Johnson has been a shell of his former self, he is usable when the match-up is right. Hines Ward has saved my season so far. My Wide out corps was suffering with Dwayne Bowe, Jerricho Cotchery, and Eddie Royal leading the way. After the trade, Bowe got hurt and then recently Cotchery received company at wide receiver and is hurt. Royal has come on recently but may not be trustworthy as he get acclimated to the Denver offense.
As was fortunate to have my best week of all this week: Matt Ryan DeAngelo Williams Thomas Jones Hines Ward Dwayne Bowe Greg Olsen Lawrence Tynes Bears Defense
Top five in points but struggling in the win/loss column. Sometimes you have to work for your success.
I recommend to fantasy owners to remain patient. Those with good depth are reaping the benefits of a solid team during the tough bye weeks. The bye weeks are taking its toll on fantasy teams in most of my leagues.
