The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly

Comments about fantasy football 2009

I am playing in four fantasy leagues this year. There are trends that I am seeing in three of the leagues. I call it the good, the bad, and the ugly. These are the names for the types of rosters that I am seeing after the drafts.

The Good: These are the teams that have top players in starting positions and then have a solid bench rich with rookies, handcuffs, and proven players.

Example:

QB: Mcnabb

RB: Steve Slaton

RB: Brandon Jacobs

WR: Roddy White

WR: Eddie Royal

TE: Greg Olsen

K: Ryan Longwell

D/ST: Titans

Bench: Donald Brown, Ahmad Bradshaw, Kevin Walter, Devin Hester, Matt Hasselbeck.

The Bad: These are teams that have some roster potential, but blew the draft by not being able to draft deep. Also, bad players are paired up with good starters. These owners are uninformed and may have drafted suspended players or overvalue a player.

Example:

QB: Kurt Warner

RB: Frank Gore

RB: Cedric Benson

WR: Steve Smith (Car.)

WR: Brandon Marshall

TE: Kellen Winslow

K: Shayne Graham

D/ST: Colts

Bench: Willis McGahee, LeRon McClain, Nate Burleson, Domenik Hixon, Trent Edwards.

The Ugly: These are teams that reach for a few great players like a star quarterback and really didn’t put in the time to get a solid team. These teams can be exposed in auctions and have serious bye week issues from sloppy drafting. These teams draft defenses and kickers high and in multiples.

Example:

QB: Drew Brees

RB: Marshawn Lynch

RB: Jamal Lewis

WR: Terrell Owens

WR: Chad Ochocinco

TE: Jeremy Shockey

K: Josh Brown

D/ST: Ravens

Bench: Garrett Hartley, Greg Jones, Isaac Bruce, Seahawks, Jamarcus Russell.
