Fantasy Football 2009

It has been quite a fantasy football year. As far as I am concerned, 2009 has been the most unpredictable year yet. Fantasy league may get more unstable in years to come. After spending the last few years winning various titles in beginner and advance leagues, this year has been humbling with a mixed bag of results.

I nailed it: Ray Rice was my best projection. I figured he would be the lead back for the Ravens, but he exceeded my expectations. I was rewarded well in 3/6 leagues that I owned him this year. It took a while but Jamaal Charles finally emerged. I did well in 3/6 leagues by picking up Charles as soon as Larry got into trouble. Hines Ward has had a great year. In 3/6 leagues, I managed to have Hines Ward as a #2 receiver.

I missed: I owned Matt Ryan and Jay Cutler in 4/6 leagues. I was forced to look at other options mid-season. Out: Jamaal Charles In: Brett Favre. Eddie Royal: I drafted him in a few leagues, and he was a flop. I cut him loose rather quickly so his bad year did not do too much damage. LaDainian Tomlinson was a flop in most of my drafts. I have been riding L.T. for years, and thought he had one good year. I chose him over Chris Johnson every time. I owned both last year.

Other happenings: In my “win a vacation” league, I pulled out a winning week 14 by defeating the top guy in my division, and 2 nd place lost as well. I am propelled into 1 st place and going into the play-offs. My local competitive league: I was in last place in the middle of the season and turned it around with persistence and luck. I am now 7-7 and in 5 th place. In another league, I hold a 7-7 record as well. In all the rest of the leagues, I am shooting for a winning record.

2010: I like these guys next year who may be drafted late or can be had cheap in auctions: Miles Austin, Robert Meachum, Jeremy Maclin, Sidney Rice, Jamaal Charles, Kenny Britt, and Vince Young.
