2008 Fantasy Football Week 2 Recap

 

Tennessee Titans 24, Cincinnati Bengals 7

Fantasy Player of the Game

  • Chris Johnson Ten - Johnson followed up a strong Week 1 with 100-yard game. He finished with 109 yards on 19 carries.

Runner UP

  • Chris Perry Cin - This is the first Bengal who has shown any fantasy value this year. While Perry only had 64 yards, he scored the lone Bengal touchdown. Perry also saw the bulk of the carries.

 

 

New England Patriots 19, New York Jets 10

Fantasy Player of the Game

  • Wes Welker NE - Welker quickly established himself as Cassel’s primary target. He ended with 7 catches for 72 yards with a long of 26.

Runner Up

  • Thomas Jones NYJ - Jones had a 100-yard Week 1, and followed it up with 72 yards. He saw the goaline carries, even though he couldn’t stick it in.

 

 

Buffalo Bills 20, Jacksonville Jaguars 16

Fantasy Player of the Game

  • Marshawn Lynch Buf - Lynch carried the ball 19 times for 59 yards and a touchdown. With Buffalo 2-0 and scoring points, Lynch’s value increases.

Runner Up

  • Lee Evans Buf - This Bills receiver has established a rapport with Trent Edwards after a shaky 2007 season. Evans caught 7 passes for 83 yards.

 

 

Oakland Raiders 23, Kansas City Chiefs 8

Fantasy Bust of the Game

  • Darren McFadden Oak - McFadden rushed for 164 yards and a score. He also led the team in carries with 21 to Michael Bush’s 16.

Runners Up

  • Dwayne Bowe KC - The Kansas City receiver led the team with 90 yards on 6 receptions. Bowe is the only relevant KC wide receiver.

 

 

Indianapolis Colts 18, Minnesota Vikings 15

Fantasy Player of the Game

  • Adrian Peterson - Peterson rushed for 160 yards on 29 rushes. He also caught 4 passes for 20 yards.

Runner Up

  • Reggie Wayne Ind - Indianapolis came back from a 15-0 2nd half score. Reggie Wayne contributed with 5 receptions for 93 yards, and a touchdown that led to a 15-15 tie.

 

 

Carolina Panthers 20, Chicago Bears 17

Fantasy Player of the Game

  • Jonathon Stewart Car - Stewart scored 2 TDs on 14 carries for 77 yards. He splits time with DeAngelo Williams, but Stewart owners should be all smiles with his increased load.

Runner Up

  • Matt Forte Chi - Forte finished with 92 yards on 23 carries. One negative is that fullback Jason McKie already has 2 1-yard touchdowns.

Green Bay Packers 48, Detroit Lions 25

Fantasy Player of the Game

  • Aaron Rodgers GB - Rodgers had another big week for the Packers. He threw for 328 yards and 3 TDs.

Runner Up

  • Calvin Johnson Det - Johnson caught 6 passes for 129 yards and 2 TDs. He has developed into Kitna’s number 1 receiver.

 

 

New York Giants 41, St. Louis Rams 13

Fantasy Player of the Week

  • Eli Manning NYG - Manning threw for 3 touchdowns and 260 yards. It was the Rams that he cut up, but the Giants look good with an easy schedule in the coming weeks.

Runner Up

  • Plaxico Burress NYG - Burress scored another TD in Week 2 on 5 receptions for 81 yards. His long was 33 yards.

 

 

Washington Redskins 29, New Orleans Saints 24

Fantasy Player of the Game

  • Clinton Portis Was - Portis scored 2 TDs and totaled 96 yards on 21 carries. Portis led the Redskins to a much needed victory, making them 1-1 on the season.

Runner Up

  • Santana Moss Was - Moss totaled 164 yards receiving with 7 catches and a touchdown. Moss caught a huge 64-yard touchdown pass that gave the Redskins the lead in 4 th quarter.

 

 

Tampa Bay Buccaneers 24, Atlanta Falcons 9

Fantasy Player of the Game

  • Earnest Graham TB - Graham scored his touchdown on a 68-yard scamper in the 4 th quarter to cap the scoring for the Bucs. He finished with 15 rushes for 116 yards and a TD

Runner Up

  • Brian Griese TB - Starting for benched Jeff Garcia, Griese played well for the Bucs. Griese threw for 160 yards and a TD.

 

 

San Francisco 49ers 33, Seatle Seahawks 30 - OT

Fantasy Player of the Game

  • J.T. O’Sullivan SF - O’Sullivan got his first victory as a 49er, and did it in style. He led the comeback with 321 yards and a TD.

Runner Up

  • Julius Jones Sea - Jones rushed for 127 yards and a TD on 26 carries. He took the bulk of the carries and looks to in the upcoming weeks.

 

 

Denver Broncos 39, San Diego Chargers 38

Fantasy Player of the Game

  • Brandon Marshall Den - Marshall came off suspension to collect 18 receptions and 166 yards and a score. His long was 34 yards.

Runner Up

  • Jay Cutler Den - Cutler has another huge game for the Broncos. He finished with 4 TDs and 350 yards, along with a 2-point conversion that won the game for the Broncos.

 

 

Arizona Cardinals 31, Miami Dolphins 10

Fantasy Player of the Game

  • Kurt Warner Ari - Warner looks great as a starter in 2008. He shredded the Dolphins for 361 yards and 3 TDs.

Runner Up

  • Anquan Boldin Ari - Boldin scored 3 touchdowns along with 140 receiving yards. He caught 6 passes, and even though he seeks a trade, his value remains high.

 

 

Pittsburgh Steelers 10, Cleveland Browns 6

Fantasy Player of the Game

  • Hines Ward Pit - Ward has back-to-back touchdown games to start the season. In Week 2, he totaled 59 yards on 5 catches.

Runner Up

  • Willie Parker Pit - Parker had his second 100-yard game of the year. He rushed for 105 yards on 28 carries.

 

 

Dallas Cowboys 41, Philadelphia Eagles 37

  • Brian Westbrook Phi - With a banged-up Ladanian Tomlinson, Westbrook has emerged as the top fantasy player in the league. Despite a 4 th quarter fumble, Westbrook scored 3 TDs and caught 6 passes.

Runner Up

  • Tony Romo Dal - Romo threw for 312 yards and 3 TDs. He led the Cowboys to a 4 th quarter comeback, and a division victory.

 

 

NFL Fantasy Players of the Week

Gold – Brandon Marshall Den: 18 receptions in his 2008 debut. Marshall looks like a 100-reception season is well in sight. He totaled 166 yards and a touchdown as well.

Silver – Anquan Boldin Ari: Boldin hooked up with Kurt Warner for 3 touchdowns and 140 yards.

Bronze – Darren McFadden Oak: McFadden rushed for 164 yards, along with a 50-yard long, and a 19-yard TD run.
