The fantasy season was thrown upside down at this position with the Tom Brady injury. Brady was the clear #1. Now it is going to be in flux based on match-ups. This week I love Big Ben against that terrible Browns pass defense. You also have to like the usual suspects like Brees and Romo. On the other hand I still do not love Peyton Manning. He looked pedestrian against the Bears and the Vikings will pressure him. The Vikes also want to prove that the loss to Green Bay was a fluke. Mentioning Green Bay I really like Aaron Rodgers to continue to improve lighting up Detroit this week. Do not forget, that if not for a fluke penalty he would have had another passing TD and about 72 more yards. Jay Cutler moves way up and should be active for everybody. The big surprise to me could come in deep leagues where Matt Cassel is not a bad play against the questionable Jets pass defense.

Most people rely on their RB’s to get a strong point foundation so gambling on RB’s is a big risk. This week is pretty much a known commodity week. Many veterans litter the Top 20 with Matt Forte as the only rookie ranked that high. Edgerrin James should have a big week against a weak Miami run defense who will already have its hands full with the Cards passing game. Brandon Jacobs could find the end zone several times against a terrible Rams team.

Everybody seems to be discounting Randy Moss now that Tom Brady is gone, it does not matter. I could throw a ball to Randy Moss and he would catch it. He is still clearly the best in the NFL. I really like Burress this week, as he is clearly Manning’s favorite target against a terrible Rams team. I also like Greg Jennings and both Anquan Boldin and Larry Fitzgerald to have excellent weeks. Also, Jerricho Cotchery is a must play this week with Favre and the Jets in a place to make a statement against a weakened Pats team.
TE
- Jason Witten (Cowboys)
- Antonio Gates (Chargers)
- Tony Gonzalez (Chiefs)
- Kellen Winslow (Browns)
- Jeremy Shockey (Saints)
- Heath Miller (Steelers)
- Chris Cooley (Redskins)
- Tony Scheffler (Broncos)

- Owen Daniels (Texans)
- Alge Crumpler (Titans)
- Dustin Keller (Jets)
- Ben Utech (Bengals)
- Zach Miller (Raiders)
- Greg Olsen (Bears)
- Randy McMichael (Rams)
- John Carlson (Seahawks)
- Kevin Boss (Giants)
- Leonard Pope (Cards)
- Ben Watson (Pats)
- Mercedes Lewis (Jags)
The top guys are the top guys for a reason. There will be the typical big difference between elite TE and the rest this week. The hardest part about TE is figuring out whom to play outside of the top four or so players. With Colston out Shockey could become Brees’s favorite target. Also, see if Matt Cassel looks to Ben Watson as a safety blanket.
Kickers
- Nick Folk (Cowboys)
- Mason Crosby (Packers)
- Stephen Gostkowski (Pats)
- Shayne Graham (Bengals)
- Nate Kaeding (Chargers)
- Jeff Reed (Steelers)

- Rian Lindell (Bills)
- Rob Bironas (Titans)
- Shaun Suisham (Redskins)
- Kris Brown (Texans)
- Joe Nedney (49ers)
- Martin Gramatica (Saints)
- Ryan Longwell (Vikings)
- Sebastian Janikowski (Raiders)
- Matt Bryant (Bucs)
- Jason Elam (Falcons)
- Olindo Mare (Seahawks)
- John Carney (Giants)
Kickers are all about the same at the end of the year, so it comes down to a week-by-week match up question. My favorite kicker to jump up this week is John Kasay. In a fashion similar to what they are doing with Moss many experts are moving Stephen Gostkowski down on their lists. I actually view it the opposite way. With Brady gone Gostkowski will get fewer extra points, but he should also get more field goals.

You have to be impressed by the performances of the Giants and Bears in week one. The Packers looked good, and they have a great match-up this week. The Seahawks looked solid and have a great match-up. The surprise for me this week is either the Raiders or the Pats. The Raiders have a great match up and a defense that should be better than he showed in week one. The Pats are a very risky plays this week because their defense is shaky and the offense will not hold onto the ball nearly as much as they did with Brady. Also, as I said last week, the Bears have a chance to be an excellent defense again this week and the rest of the season.
