2008 Fantasy Football Week 4 Waiver Wire Report
Each week Pro Football Fans will be bringing you all our waiver wire report where we identify players who are more likely to be available using your waiver position to add to your team. While we can't be sure that individuals will be available in your league, you can use this as a guide for all of your fantasy football decision-making as you work toward a fantasy football league championship. Lance Moore WR (Saints): Moore had a big day for the Saints and Drew Brees. Without Colston the Saints need a wide out to step up and maybe it will Moore. Moore caught seven balls for the second straight week. He is at worst a solid flex play until Colston comes back. There is every possibility that he will become a solid flex or even #2 WR going forward even when Colston comes back.
Kevin Walter WR (Texans): Walter had a big week along with Texans QB Matt Schaub against a suddenly suspect Jags defense. I think Walter will continue to be an okay flex play, but I do not believe he is a WR2 option except in desperate circumstances. Walter should be on your roster as a backup and bye week option/flex option at best.
Matt Prater K (Broncos): Prater is as good a bet as any kicker going forward to make an impact. Kickers are a notoriously tightly bunched group and their team’s offense has more to do with their value than anything else. Despite a poor showing against the Chiefs I still like the Broncos offense to be a top tier offense, so Prater should be a top tier kicker as well.
Robert Meachem WR (Saints): Meachem has some similarities to Moore, but mainly in that his value is higher with Colston out. When Colston returns I believe Moore will be ahead of Meachem on the depth chart. Meachem’s only value at that point will be as an occasional deep threat. Which means, he will have a solid week or two when he gets a deep score, but otherwise he will contribute little.
Zach Miller TE (Raiders): Miller should have been better all season than he has been. Miller is an excellent receiving TE in an offense that needs help at receiver, especially in the red zone. Miller should continue to grow into one of the better options, especially at the goal line for Jamarcus Russell and an improving Raiders offense.
Correll Buckhalter RB (Eagles): Everybody already knows, keep him active until Brian Westbrook returns.
Matt Jones WR (Jags): The Jags are desperately looking for offensive weapons, especially in the passing game. Jones had a big day against Houston and has caught five balls in each of the Jags games so far this season. He should continue to carve out a role in the Jags offense and looks like a passable flex option if you lack a RB in that spot. He also is a not a terrible WR2 if you have a rough bye week.
Arnaz Battle WR (49ers): Good week, which will happen occasionally for WR in Martz’s offense, nothing to get too excited about at this point.
Steve Breaston WR (Cardinals): Another player who had a solid week. Unlike Battle the talent is there for Breaston to build on this week. He is a solid deep threat on a team that figures to throw the ball a ton the rest of the way. With Boldin out at least a couple of weeks, probably longer Breaston is a solid flex play, and may move to a WR2 before long.
Jerheme Urban WR (Cardinals): Urban had a good week in the offensive outburst at the Meadowlands. Urban may now be the Cards #3 WR, but I do not think he merits a pick-up. However, monitoring his progress, as well as Boldin’s status is a good idea.
Mewelde Moore RB (Steelers): With both Mendenhall and Parker out for at least a week or two Moore becomes the starter. He is a solid flex play against the Jaguars and should have continued value until Parker gets fully healthy.
