Answers to three big questions entering the NFL season

As we enter the 2010 NFL season there are plenty of headlines that are making the news. From Albert Hanyesworth’s saga in Washington to all of the injuries during the practice times this will make for an interesting season. For me there are a few big questions that need to be answered (of course there could be a difference in opinion) and we want to look at them and give you your football fix before the year gets kicked off.

1) Can you have two shows in prime time on the same channel?

As we all know Terrell Owens is now in Cincinnati and so is Ochocinco so can they truly exist together on the same team? On team where they have 5 star talent will they get 5 star results with players like Cedric Benson, T.O., Ocho, and Antonio Bryant will there be enough balls to go around and will Carson Palmer catch the flack for not distributing the ball enough? These are all questions that are yet to be answered but here is my take on things. I think it can work, in the stages of their careers Chad and Terrell are looking to win the big one and some where along the way pride gives way to desire, desire to win a Super Bowl. Fact is these guys are not getting any younger and they know that, so for them it is now or never. I think they will co-exist and I think they will be successful, the question: Are they Super Bowl bound?

2) Is Sam Bradford really worth $50 million guaranteed? Can he survive?

You and I both know that when rookies come into the league they don’t produce much especially at the quarterback position (exceptions Matt Ryan and Joe Flacco). Many times if you are the number one pick you get paid mega bucks to either sit on the bench or get sacked more times than groceries at the store, but is it worth that huge signing? Sam Bradford was a talent at Oklahoma and he did great things but can he be that type of player again apparently the Rams believe so, I feel that if you will pay him the big bucks you better make sure your investment is protected. Sam Bradford has a roughed up shoulder how many hits will it take to put him on the shelf, only time will tell. My thoughts give Bradford at least six games on the bench to see the speed and difference of the pro game and then give him his opportunity. Bradford can be a good NFL quarterback, but in order to do that he must have time to develop. As for the question is he worth $50 million, I don’t know of many who are that haven’t taken a snap in the NFL.

3) Is there such a thing as too many superstars on one team?

The New York Jets were a really good team last season, so good in fact; they made it to the conference championship game (only to lose to the Indianapolis Colts). So the Jets sought out players, not just average run of the mill players, but players that were at one time the tops at their position. Can this work, can players put egos and pride aside to come together and win a Super Bowl? My thoughts, I believe Rex Ryan is a players coach and I believe that he is brash and relentless and the players like that but when you begin talking about money and playing time it could get a little out of hand. Sometimes it is difficult when everyone says you are Super Bowl bound, I believe the Jets have a great team but it remains to be seen if they will gel together or just fall apart amid expectations and false hopes.
