Bears and Bills clash in Canada

The Chicago Bears are coming off of their bye week and are hoping to get back in a winning state of mind when they travel to Toronto, Canada to face the 0-7 Buffalo Bills.

The well-rested Bears shouldn’t take the Bills’ record for granted. The past couple of weeks, Buffalo took two tough teams in the Baltimore Ravens and the Kansas City Chiefs into overtime.

Jay Cutler and the Chicago offense will be facing a Buffalo defense that is allowing an NFL worst 30.1 points per game. This can only be taken advantage of if the offensive line shows some improvement since letting Cutler get sacked a league-high 27 times. Hopefully the return of right guard Roberto Garza will help. Also, The Bears need to show more balance in their offensive attack. Running backs Matt Forte and Chester Taylor haven’t seen much action in the running game, and giving them the ball more will keep the Buffalo defense from easily predicting pass plays.

Brian Urlacher, Lance Briggs, Julius Peppers, and the rest of the Chicago defense will look to improve on their dominance in the second half of the season. Chicago is fifth in the league in stopping the run with 89.3 yards per game. Peppers’ presence alone will create more big-play opportunities for the Bears against this struggling Bills team, especially for Israel Idonije. Idonije who leads the Bears with 4 ½ sacks, will be playing in the country in which he grew up in. And just like Peppers when he went back to Carolina in Week 5, Idonije just might have a career game.

With the second half of the season on the horizon for the Chicago Bears, things are looking tougher than before. With more divisional games and playoff contending teams ahead, hopefully the Bears will take advantage of what many would call an easy win.
