Indianapolis Colts vs. Cincinnati Bengals (final preseason game)
In the final preseason contest of the 2010 season the Colts were looking for there first win of the preseason against the Cincinnati Bengals. With Peyton Manning sitting on the sidelines for this game it would be really difficult for the Colts to find that first win of the preseason. Cincinnati came into this game with a .500 record at 2-2, the Bengals are looking to make some noise in their division with the addition of Terrell Owens to go opposite of Chad Ochocinco, the big question for them is can they co-exist together and will there be enough balls to go around from quarterback Carson Palmer? At any rate both teams were ready to get things started and to evaluate those players on the bubble as final cuts are to be made real soon. In the first quarter the Bengals were the only ones to get on the board with a field goal from Mike Nugent from 52-yards and also a field goal from Dave Rayner from 39-yards making the score at the end of the 1st quarter Bengals 6, Colts 0. In the second quarter the Colts retaliated with 2 field goals of their own the first was a 23-yard field goal and the next was a 36-yard field goal making the score at halftime all tied up at 6-6. In the second half that is when all the action happened the Bengals looked as though they were ready to run away with the game first was a Cedric Peerman 93-yard touchdown run with Mike Nugent tacking on the extra point, the next was a 17-yard pass from Jordan Palmer to Jerome Simpson to make the score Cincinnati 20, Indianapolis 6. The Colts got going in the 3rd quarter also as Tom Brandstater connected with Brandon James from 26-yards out and the score at the end of the third quarter, 20-13.
The 4th quarter was a back and forth affair the Bengals began with a 34-yard field goal from Mike Nugent the Colts fired back with a 23-yard touchdown pass from Tom Brandstater to Brandon James, these two also hooked up again for the 2-point conversion to make the score Bengals 23, Colts 21. The Bengals leading by two were ready to extend the lead as Jordan Palmer connected on a long pass for a 50-yard touchdown to Dezmon Briscoe with the extra point added by Dave Rayner, the final score of the night came on the hot connection of the night Tom Brandstater found Brandon James again for a 6-yard touchdown pass to make the final score Cincinnati 30, Indianapolis 28. The top quarterback of the night was Tom Brandstater who went 10 for 18 with 178 yards and 3 touchdowns, top rusher no doubt Cedric Peerman who rushed only 6 times but had an amazing 100 yards and 1 touchdown, the top receiver was Blair White who had 7 receptions for 132 yards the honorable mention was Brandon James who caught 4 balls for 56 yards and 3 touchdowns. Now it is time for the regular season to begin, it should be another great year for Indianapolis and Cincinnati is definitely poised to do big things in their division with the additions on the team.
