Cowboys Wrap – Hall of Famer and Injuries Headline This Weekend’s Festivities
Emmitt Smith Soon to Be Enshrined in Canton. The all time NFL rushing leader will join Jerry Rice the all time NFL receiving leader this weekend in immortality. Smith, will be the last member of “the triplets” who helped Dallas dominate the 90’s which included winning three super bowls. The former Cowboys’ star is also the only other player in NFL history to win the following awards: NFL MVP, NFL rushing leader, Super Bowl Champion, and Super Bowl MVP all in the same season (1993).
Spencer’s Injury Could Force Him to Miss Opener. Anthony Spencer already is being pushed for playing time but his backups in Jason Hatcher and Stephen Bowen and this injury could all but seal the deal in moving Spencer into a primary back up role. Dez Bryant seems to be recovering nicely from his high ankle sprain. Rookie draft picks linebacker Sean Lee and safety Akwasi Owusu-Ansah both practiced for consecutive days after being out at the beginning of camp with previous injury.
Other Cowboy Notes: This weekend’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals marks the first time former player’s safety Roy Williams and wide out Terrell Owens face the Cowboys.
