Buffalo cuts the cord on Miami’s playoff hopes
Last Sunday Miami’s slim playoff hopes ended. An embarrassing loss to the Buffalo Bills was the cause. Miami was only able to post 14 points, continuing the struggle that Miami seems to not be able to overcome. Pro-Bowl kicker Dan Carpenter was unable to connect on all four of his attempts, one of which was a 61 yard attempt.
The game started out slow as both teams entered the second quarter without a score. Eventually, Ryan Fitzpatrick connected with David Nelson on an 18-yard pass play. While Miami failed to put points on the board, the Bills kicked a field goal on their next drive. With less than 3 minutes left in the first half Dolphins running back Ronnie Brown punched out a score via the Wildcat.

The second half was slow as well, as it took 11 minutes for one of the teams to score, which was a Fitzpatrick to Steve Johnson connection in the end zone. The Dolphins failed to score in the third quarter and things started going into panic-mode due to a 2-score deficit. With 7 minutes left Miami quarterback Chad Henne hit wide out Brandon Marshall on a 9 yard pass to cut the difference by 3. Buffalo shed some time off the clock, leaving the Dolphins little to work with as they tried to make a comeback. Miami just didn’t have enough time to get anything going, and the time left in regulation ran out. 1 of those 4 attempts by Dan Carpenter would have come in handy.
With pride the only thing left to play for, the Dolphins head to Detroit. Detroit has been playing with a chip on their shoulder, so a win by the Fins is not guaranteed. Unless things get better offensively, Miami may be in trouble.
