The Miami Dolphins have finally won a home game, at the cost of their top two Quarterbacks. Chad Pennington has been declared done for the season due to a shoulder injury after two plays against the Titans, threatening his career due to already having surgery on the same shoulder 3 times already. Chad Henne could be lost for a good amount of time with a dislocated knee cap he sustained later in the game after he took over for Pennington. With Tyler Thigpen the only healthy QB on the roster, the Dolphins are going to have to find a free-agent soon as they play the Bears on Thursday.
The game was a very unusual one to say the least, with a total of 5 Quarterbacks taking snaps for the teams on Sunday. Vince Young couldn’t make the start with an ankle injury and after Kerry Collins struggled in the first half, VY decided his injury wasn’t serious enough to keep him out of the game any longer. After a dismal outing on both Tennessee QBs the titans could not overcome the point difference. The ground game had difficulty getting started, as Ronnie Brown was held to 11 yards on 12 carries, Ricky Williams got in some nice plays in the second half and ended the game with 64 yards on 11 carries. Randy Moss had an awful debut with the Titans, reeling in only 1 catch; the catch was made in garbage time when the game had already been lost by the Titans. Tyler Thigpen led the Dolphins to a TD drive as he hit tight end Anthony Fasano in the end zone for the game sealing touchdown. Dolphin’s safety Reshad Jones really stepped it up in the fourth quarter registering his first NFL sack and interception on the Titans final drive of the game.
There are a lot of question marks going into Thursday’s game against the Bears. The Dolphins are stringed with a number of injuries that include their two offensive and defensive cornerstones, Jake Long and Cameron Wake. It will be interesting to see how Coach Tony Sparano deals with these injuries and builds the game plan around them.
