Coming off a 15-10 win from the Buffalo Bills it seems as though Miami’s offense was not clicking on all cylinders. Henne was held to zero touchdowns through the air and posted a low 5.4 yards per attempt. Not to mention the Bills pass rush got to him 3 times. Is it the underrated Buffalo pass defense or is it the Michigan alum having a few season opening kinks? We’ll soon find out as the Dolphins head to the Metro Dome this weekend for a tough matchup against Brett Favre and his Vikings. The run game looked its usual self as the team rushed for a total of 137 yards on the ground. Ronnie Brown showed that a season ending foot injury in 2009 will not slow him down as he recorded 65 yards and touchdown on 13 carries for a nice 5.0 yards per rush. Ricky Williams showed that the old man can still tote the rock as he carried the ball 18 times for a total of 62 yards. I think one of the problems for Henne is he needs to spread the ball around a bit more. The only wide outs that caught any passes were offseason gem Brandon Marshall and third year undrafted free agent Davone Bess. The Bills D was all over second year player Brian Hartline and he was held to zero receptions.
It should be interesting to see the matchup between the Vikings and Dolphins this weekend in Minneapolis, as the Vikings try to retain their elite status and win their first game of the season. The fins hope to stay without a loss for the second week in a row and get there second road win of the season. Should the Dolphins take down the Vikings it will be interesting to see if Brett Favre’s decision was a good one or not. Expect defensive coordinator Mike Nolan to be attacking Favre on all areas of the field with his pass rush. Another interesting thing to watch will be Greg Camarillo the former dolphins wide receiver gets his chance to get back at the team that traded him away just weeks ago.
It could go both ways but I think that the Dolphins can’t get past the ole’ veteran Brett Favre as he torches the inexperienced dolphins defensive backfield. It will be interesting to see how the Dolphins bread and butter, their run game, fairs against the feared William’s wall. If they can get the run game going that will setup the play-action and Henne can attack the injury/problem filled defensive backfield of the Vikings. If they can get past that feat I can see the Dolphins pulling the upset, but the chances are slim.
23-17 Vikings over the Dolphins
