Fantasy Football, things you should know…

If you are like me you are out of your fantasy football playoffs (lost in the first round) but if you are still in then you more than likely are looking to win your league’s championship. Fantasy Football is a real game of chance you never know who will show up and show out but there are a few guys that if on your roster they brought it every game. There are many fantasy football surprises this season and here we want to name just a few:

Arian Foster, RB, Houston Texans- I don’t believe that anyone would have guessed that Foster would be the league’s leading rusher. With his hard nosed running and the passing game to setup a solid rushing attack Foster has really came through for his owners this season.

Peyton Hillis, RB, Cleveland Browns- Let’s face it coming into the season the only thing that anyone wanted out of Cleveland in fantasy football would be Joshua Cribbs but Hillis has really come into his own this season and has paid big dividends for those who picked him up mid season.

Dwayne Bowe, WR, Kansas City Chiefs- After a slow start to the season Bowe really came on to lead the league in touchdown receptions. With a solid running game defense’s were on guard for the run and that really freed up Bowe to make big plays down the field.

Many times your draft is what sets you up for a big season or it can doom you to a finish in last place. In fantasy football it really can be a hit or miss when it comes to a player here are a few players that had potential going into the season but only came out to be bust:

Ryan Mathews, RB, San Diego Chargers- Mathews was touted as the fill in for Tomlinson in San Diego, but with injuries and lack of touches (due to the emergence of Mike Tolbert) he has been a real bust for fantasy owners.

Pierre Garcon, WR, Indianapolis Colts- Garcon who emerged last season as the second coming to Marvin Harrison has really had a tough go of it this season. Due to injury and many dropped passes it has not been a real productive season, although he has shined at times, he has struggled to be consistent for fantasy owners.

DeAngelo Williams, RB, Carolina Panthers- Williams who is usually a fantasy football beast was really hammered by injuries and he just could not get on the field. Many owners spent top draft picks to get Williams but simply put he was not productive because he couldn’t stay on the field.

If you have never played fantasy football I encourage you to try it out, first maybe in a public league to really catch the concept then create a league with friends or co-workers to really see if you have the NFL know how to pick to top players.

The key to fantasy football is to find the key players that not only produce but those who are sleepers so you must keep you eyes open and keep your roster in check. I hope that you have success and win your league if not here is looking to next season and the fun that fantasy football brings.
