Giants Hold Off Lions, 28-20

New York Giants hats & merchandise The Giants improved their record to 4-2, with a 28-20 win over the Lions at the New Meadowlands Stadium. The Lions dropped to 1-5, as they were mistake prone the entire game, finishing with eleven penalties. It was the Lions record tying 24 th straight road game loss. It was not an easy win for the Giants like last week’s win in Houston. The Lions had put up forty four points in their win last week vs. St. Louis.

Eli Manning was efficient and threw two touchdown passes to Mario Manningham and Travis Beckum. He finished with a 104.4 passer rating and most importantly, no interceptions. The Giants were 3-3 in the red zone.

Ahmad Bradshaw ran for 133 yards and Brandon Jacobs scored two touchdowns to power the running game.

The Giants defense was led by defensive end Osi Umenyiora who had two sacks and two forced fumbles. He has seven sacks and six forced fumbles in the last three games. Safety Grant led the Giants with 10 tackles. The defense held the Lions to sixty four yards rushing.

The Giants special teams were still inconsistent, at best. Punter Matt Dodge dropped his first punt attempt, leading to the Lions first touchdown. Kicker Lawrence Tynes was inactive due to a sprained ankle. Shayne Graham, who was signed Saturday, handled extra points and kickoffs. He didn’t attempt any field goals.

Next game Monday October 25 at Dallas.
