NY Giants Update

Quarterback Jim Sorgi, WR Sinorice Moss and 6th round draft pick LB AdrianTracy was all placed on injured reserve.

With only inexperienced Rhett Bomar and Dominic Randolph as backups for Eli Manning, the Giants have expressed some interest in disgruntled Arizona Cardinals QB Matt Leinart. Leinart, who was in line for the starting job after Kurt Warner retired, appears to have fallen behind Derek Anderson for the starting job in Arizona. The Bills, Raiders and Giants all had trade discussions with the Cardinals about Leinart.

Leinart would not appear to be a good fit for the Giants, who are looking for a veteran backup to help Manning. Leinart wants to be a starter and Eli Manning never misses a game. Rhett Bomar will get the start Thursday night against the Patriots.

Offensive lineman Kevin Boothe was moved to the reserve-physically unable to perform list with a pectoral injury. Local product WR Nyan Boateng was released. CB Aaron Ross had his cast removed. His status for the season opener against Carolina is unknown. TE Travis Beckum is dealing with a neck problem.

It looks like Andre Brown is likely to be the third running back behindJacobs and Bradshaw.

Next game Thursday September 2, 7 PM ET vs. the New England Patriots.
