New York Jets @ Indianapolis Colts. 17- 16
I know I said I would make this painless but I really feel that the Jets deserved to win this game. They were the better team. It’s simple. What stood out most for me was just how well coached this football team really is. To say that Rex Ryan has ‘talked the talk’ this year would be a drastic understatement. He has ‘bigged’ his Jets up to the maximum and if you ask me, he had every right to. They are great football team. I realise that they picked up a lot of wins in overtime or in the last few seconds of regulation, but a team has got to be coached in a certain way in order to squeeze wins out in impossible situations. This game was no exception. Manning and the Colts struggled to convert several short yardage third downs but hung in there, however the Jets ground out the win in a tense finish.
LaDanian Tomlinson had probably the best post season game that he has ever had and it was the running game (I’m starting to see a correlation between winning and running the ball efficiently – who knew?) that allowed the Jets to take huge chunks of time off the clock and slow the game down to a level at which they were comfortable. There is something to be said for Shonn Greene’s place in this offence also. With two excellent running backs, the Jets pose such a threat on the ground that the play-action pass becomes so much more effective, leaving Sanchez with Braylon Edwards, Dustin Keller or of course, Santonio Holmes to complete passes to for big gains. They are a well rounded, well coached team. Reggie Wayne spent most of the game of Revis Island and Antonio Cromartie, despite a few early hickups and a ‘talking to’ by Mike Pettine remained an asset to the defence, as he has been all season. Overall – a tough game and the Jets sneak a win…what else is new?
