The Indianapolis Colts @ The Green Bay Packers Pre-Season Review
The Green Bay Packers showed their resiliency with their win over the Colts, which seemed to almost fade away early in the first half. The Packers trailed the Colts 17-7 early after a Manning to Garcon touchdown, and Manning to Wayne touchdown, with an added field goal by Adam Vinatieri. The lone Packers score was a Touchdown pass from Rodgers to Driver after the Garcon score. From there Green Bay took off, and never looked back as they ensued with a score to Jermichael Finley from Aaron Rodgers, followed by a special teams score on a muffed punt return that landed in the end zone that Korey Hall recovered for another score putting the Packers up 21-17. Then a lovely two-minute offense added another score with Aaron Rodgers hooking up with James Jones on a back shoulder throw in the end zone leading into the half, with the score 28-17 Packers leading. The Packers opened up the 2nd half with another 10 points coming from a Mason Crosby 28 yard field goal, and a John Kuhn touchdown from backup Quarterback Matt Flynn. The Colts responded with a nice drive by backup Curtis Painter, that ended with a Donald Brown touchdown run, to make the score 38-24. That’d be the last we saw of the Colts offense though as they were shutout in the 4th quarter. The Packers continued scoring into the 4th, with 21 points scored, a Matt Flynn pass to rookie Andrew Quarless and a Kevin Lumpkin touchdown run on offense. The third score of the quarter was by Jason Chery on a beautiful punt return of 75 yards, to top off the blowout.

The Packers looked really great on all sides of the ball in this game; the first team offense looked really good in the half they played Aaron Rodgers, finishing 21 for 29 with 195 yards passing and 3 touchdowns. Jermichael Finley looked to be Rodgers favorite target with Greg Jennings not playing, finishing with 6 receptions for 85 yards and a touchdown. Defensively the Packers looked good too, with the exception of the early scores by Peyton Manning, otherwise they disguised their defense very well, and that led to 3 takeaways by the defense, with 2 interceptions and a forced fumble. While on defense the Packers took advantage of the Colts constant frustration with the umpire in their hurry up offense which led to a very frustrated Colts offense, causing a couple of penalties on illegal snaps as well. Overall the Packers flexed their powers in this game and showed that they’re very capable of being a power house this year, and that they are a very deep and talented football team.
