Green Bay Packers Update
The Packers play the down and out Dallas Cowboys in week 9. The game was supposed to be a shootout with two high touted offenses between two league rivals, but has since lost steam with the Packers' struggles and the Cowboys being 1-6 and not having star quarterback Tony Romo for an extended period of time with a broken left clavicle. The game should be freebie for the Packers as they head into the bye, but stranger things have happened so don't be surprised if the game is close going into the 4th quarter. Aaron Rodgers has been playing very up and down like as of late, with some drives being very pin point and accurate, while on others being off target and off timing with his recievers. The upcoming bye week should hopefully fix these issues, and give him more recovery time as well from any little injuries that may be plaguing him from taking multiple hits this year. Also needing time off is Wide Receiver Donald Driver who suffered a quad injury and has been ruled out against the game this week.
Clay Matthews continues to impress this season, leading the league in sacks even with missing a game this year due to a hamstring injury. Matthews has accumulated 10 sacks thus far this season and continues to be productive despite multiple double teams, and tons of holding that goes by unseen by the officials. Overall, Matthews continues to be a force on the defensive side of the ball being a one man pass rushing machine. A rookie who needs to step up is the tight end Andrew Quarless, the replacement for Jermichael Finley who is out for the season. The tight end position is a favorite target of Aaron Rodgers that whoever plays in that spot needs to be able to make every catch as the targets they get are very important to the offensive flow of the team. How he continues to show up on game day will be seen, especially since the play type is similar to Finley. The Packers need every down to the played like his last for Quarless to continue to win games, and help keep the winning ways.
