The NFL’s top five free agents

If we have an upcoming NFL season (which seems in doubt right now) it will be a season to remember. With many great young players coming into the NFL via the draft, there are many players that are looking to possibly test the free agent market. Nowadays, with the benefits of the franchise tag, many key players can cash in big for one season and then cash in again the following season. In this article we want to cover some of the top free agents in the NFL this season. Now chances are many will be franchised but those who aren’t could bring many teams one step closer to the ultimate prize…the Lombardi trophy.

Peyton Manning-QB - Indianapolis Colts

Now no doubt that Manning will resign with Indianapolis via the franchise tag for this season but no doubt a long term deal will be done. The only questions are for how long and for how much, the numbers will be ridiculous because the Colts want to see Manning break all the QB records in a Colt uniform.

DeAngelo Williams- RB- Carolina Panthers

Carolina really had a tough season and they were hit hardest in the rushing game. With Williams and Stewart going down to injuries and no proven receiver opposite Steve Smith the Panthers earned the number one pick in the draft. Williams could be expendable for the Panthers that is the price of having two solid running backs in the backfield. As Stewart emerges and proves himself Williams time in Carolina could be coming to a close.

Haloti Ngata- DT- Ravens

A massive force on the defensive side of the ball, Ngata is quite possible the best defensive lineman in the league today. If the Ravens do not franchise him he will be highly sought after by many teams, but you can bet Baltimore will do what ever it takes to keep Ngata.

Nnamdi Asomugha- CB- Raiders

This could be the prize of the free agent market, the Raiders can NOT use the franchise tag on Asomugha so many teams will rush to sign this talented corner. Asomugha is capable of playing in any scheme with any defense and he will automatically make the team better. Look for many teams to come inquiring for the services of Asomugha.

Michael Vick- QB- Eagles

What a year for the quarterback, if Brady wouldn’t have had the season he had you could have seen Vick take the MVP award. Vick is a special talent that shook off the rust and proved that he could lead his team to the playoffs. Look for Vick to get a large offer from the Eagles because with the young team they have he fits perfectly and they want to keep him.

There are many other top free agents around the league but these were our top five chances are many will return to their present teams but it is always fun to think that these guys may just go to your favorite team. Or you just hope that if they are on your team they stay there.
