49ers win 5th game in a row against struggling BrownsThe difference between the two teams today was none other than Frank Gore. Putting his injury of last season behind him, he is improving with every game showing his superstar capabilities off at every chance. As the 49ers brushed past the Browns 20-10 Gore was able to rush for 134 yards and 1 touchdown. This was the first time the 49ers have won five straight games since 2001. This streak has left fans dreaming of a playoff return. The 49ers have been a team without playoff contention for near 8 seasons and they are looking to make sure this year puts a halt to that streak. The Cleveland Browns have been struggling in the defensive department as of late, however in the game in San Francisco they were yet again without Peyton Hillis and backup running back Montario Hardesty was forced off early with a calf injury. Although the lack of offense cannot be blamed entirely on injuries, many teams would struggle without their two main running backs, especially when their quarterback is unable to succeed with the majority of his plays being throws.
The Browns offense had copied last week with only a field goal, meaning they hadn't scored a touchdown in the past two weeks, however Josh Cribbs' ensured this was snapped by scoring of a 45-yard touchdown catch, making the game a closer encounter in the final minutes. Akers scored a late field goal to ensure that 2 scores were needed in order for a Cleveland comeback.
