Game Preview Week 3 - Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Indianapolis Colts
This season has been a season of finding themselves for the Indianapolis Colts and who they really are it still remains to be seen. The Colts have found themselves struggling on offense to say the least the passing offense has been almost invisible. The Colts have been in the red zone a few times in the past two weeks but they have had to settle for field goals rather than touchdowns something they are not used to doing. The bright spot is that this have given the offensive line and running game almost a new life (if we are looking for any positives) it seems as though Joseph Addai has regained his form and is running with new passion which is definitely a desperate need. The Colts have a tough task on Sunday night as they line up against a stout defensive when the Steelers come to town. For the Steelers they were dismantled in week 1 as the Baltimore Ravens really exposed many weaknesses, but in week 2 they righted the ship shutting out the Seattle Seahawks. The Pittsburgh defense is still as solid as ever but there are many questions about the age and if during the season it will catch up with them. As for the offense Pittsburgh is a run first pass second offense, they sometimes get away from their plan and it can get them into trouble. It seems as they visit Indianapolis they will stick to their plan and they feel it should be successful.
Key Match-ups: Kerry Collins vs. Pittsburgh defense Let’s face it Collins is no Manning and the defense knows this look for the defense to pressure Collins and the offense all night long.
Ben Roethlisberger vs. Mathis and Freeney Understand that Lucas Oil Stadium is built for speed and that is exactly what the Colts have with Mathis and Freeney. With many questions on the Pittsburgh offensive line, look for them to find opportunities to hit Roethlisberger.
Keys to the Game: Steelers offensive give Ben time to go deep If they can Roethlisberger to Wallace can be a lethal combination but he must have time in the pocket which will be hard against a speedy Colts defense.
Indianapolis offense put touchdowns on the board If they can find their rhythm and put 7’s on the board rather than 3’s they could get their first win of this season, if they settle for field goals they will not outscore the Steelers.
Prediction: The fact is the Indianapolis offense has been stale as of late not able to put up touchdowns, in this game they must be able to get into the end zone early and often, one problem the Steelers defense and the ever changing looks will confuse Collins and the Colts offense. I look for the Steelers to wear down Indianapolis and control the game on the ground.
Pittsburgh 24, Indianapolis 10
