Will the Colts find a way to win this season?

Indianapolis Colts hats & merchandise

This has been a difficult season for the Indianapolis Colts, not just record wise but also on the injury front. From early on the Colts found themselves minus their captain on offense as Peyton Manning was on the shelf from off season neck surgery. That was a sticking point for the Colts as it seems that they could not get themselves back into rhythm. On the opposite side of the ball, Gary Brackett the heart and soul of the Colts defense was placed on IR along with numerous injuries on that side of the ball. The Colts are a team that for years has been based on finding a rhythm and keeping that rhythm throughout the season. This season they have not found that on offense or on defense, they have had numerous opportunities to win ball games but have not been able to close out in the fourth quarter. There was much speculation whether Kerry Collins would make a positive impact on the team, although Collins brought experience to the team he did not produce and was quickly out for the season after a concussion took him out of the starting job. That left the job in the hands of Curtis Painter, many were not in favor of this action (including myself) but Painter has really made strides stepping into the starting position. Painter still has much work to do, but he has improved over all in order for the Colts to really have a chance to win the offense must be clicking.

Will the Colts find a way to win? It is difficult to say, I believe the best shot was facing a struggling Jacksonville Jaguars team but they lost that game by seven. The Colts have many talents on offense and on defense and with the unknown that is the NFL anything is possible. It has been a difficult year for the players, coaches, and fans as many are so used to winning to have a season where they are at 0-10 is not acceptable. Many have called for Jim Caldwell’s job and many have called for significant changes on the offensive side of the ball, the plain fact is the Colts need to be solid on both sides of the ball for all four quarters and when they are that win or those wins will come. Can one man make that much of a difference? Can he make up for all the ‘lacks’ and ‘less than’ on both sides of the ball? Many would say no, because football is a team sport and when you play as a team you win or lose as a team but for the Colts they are showing that one man can make a huge difference.
