Will this Dolphins team ever win a ball game? It really is questionable if they will. The Miami Dolphins fell to 0-4 after losing 26-16 to San Diego. Chad Henne went out of the game in the first quarter after injuring his shoulder.
San Diego has now started the season 3-1 for the first time in 5 seasons under Norv Turner. Philip Rivers threw for 307 yards with 21 completions and 1 TD as San Diego knocked out Chad Henne
"Everybody seems to think we can't start fast," Tolbert said. "But no matter how we win, how ugly it is, we're 3-1. We're on a good pace right now. We're trying to keep momentum going."
It's a huge change for Chargers fans that have gotten used to starting the season off slowly.
The only thing faster would be 4-0," Rivers said. "It's a little faster than it has been around here. It's usually a flip of 3-1."
Mike Tolbert said "As long as you win, the style points really don't count. We don't care about style."
San Diego won a game that wasn't overly entertaining of exciting. Well from the Miami side of the ball it wasn't. Rivers and the Chargers had many big plays including the 55-yard TD pass to Vincent Jackson after the Dolphins took an early lead with a 1 yard run from Lex Hilliard.
Turner was impressed with his team's performance overall against the Dolphins.
"There wasn't anything blah-blah about anyone on our side," the coach said.
Henne and Moore were both picked off once in the game. "Everybody is going to wish they had some plays back," Moore said. Henne left the game when he hurt his left shoulder in the first quarter at the end of a broken play.
"I wanted to see how it felt, but the risk was too heavy to do," Henne said. "Doctors will let me throw tomorrow, we'll get some more tests done, see how my strength is."
Dan Carpenter kicked 3 field goals from 51, 37 and 41 which added to the Dolphins woes in the red zone.
Reggie Bush ran 13 times for 50 yards but the Chargers were able to score TD's when they needed to and the Dolphins couldn't.
Once again the Dolphins were a disappointment to watch and they desperately need a QB to get that spark in the offense.
Tony Sparano will be on a raging hot seat if he wasn't already this week.
