The New York Jets were bad, but Miami were worse. In a game that the Jets labeled as 'must win' they came out comfortable winners in the end. But it didn't come easy
The Jets didn't even make a first down until midway through the second quarter. By then the Dolphins could have been up 21-0. But the inconsistencies of the Dolphins around the end-zone caught up with them and they were only able to put up 6 points the entire game.
"Hey, we needed a win in the worst way," a relieved Ryan said. "I'm just happy that we found a way to get one."
The Jets came into this game on the back of 3 straight road losses and knowing that defeat would ultimately rule them out of playoff contention and winning the Super Bowl.
"Anytime you lose three games straight, you're going to lack some confidence," running back Ladanian Tomlinson said. "You're going to start to question yourself a little bit."
The only points that the Jets could muster in the first quarter was off a 100- yard pick 6 by Darrelle Revis after Miami had taken a 33 point lead off the boot of Dan Carpenter."Losing was tough," Revis said. "It was hard coming to work. We wanted to get this win. We came in with a great game plan and guys stuck together.''
The Miami Dolphins are now 0-5 and Tony Sparano's job has to be in serious jeopardy if it wasn't already. And Brandon Marshall didn't live up to his expectations of getting thrown out of the game by the second quarter or getting into a fight with Cromartie."It's tough right now," wide receiver Brandon Marshall said. "When you lose, everything looks bad. It's a nasty feeling in the building and a nasty feeling every day. The only thing we can do is fight to get a win."
The Dolphins on the night couldn't get any offense going and Matt Moore ended the night with 2 picks and 204 passing yards."It's rough, kind of the same old story, trying to find answers and make plays down there in the red zone and we seem to hit a wall," Moore said. "Just got to keep going."
New York's main offense came from Mark Sanchez's 38 yard pass to Santonio Holmes which put the Jets up 14-6. "It was good," Holmes said. "We both looked each other in the eye and said, 'Let's go. It's time to play some football.''
The Miami Dolphins season is looking a lot like the 2007 season when they finished 1-15. But in the long run, this could be good for Dolphins fans. Just wait for the draft in April and you'll see what I mean.
