Philadelphia Eagles @ St. Louis Rams Week 1 Recap

The start to the self-proclaimed “Dream Team” Philadelphia Eagles didn’t start out well as they were hoping for as the Rams put them in a quick 7-0 hole after running back Steven Jackson ripped of a 47-yard touchdown with over eleven minutes remaining in the first quarter. That was however the only good piece of news from the Rams, as they would only manage six points the rest of the game.

Michael Vick, in response to the Steven Jackson touchdown drove the Eagles down the field resulting in a seven-yard touchdown run for running back LeSean McCoy to tie it up at 7. On the Rams next offensive possession, Sam Bradford fumbled and led to a 56-yard return for a touchdown by Juqua Parker to the Eagles a 14-7 lead.

At halftime, the game seemed close as it was 17-10 but didn’t last long as Vick connected with receiver Desean Jackson for a six-yard touchdown with a little less than six minutes to go in the third quarter to give the Birds a commanding 24-10 lead heading into the fourth. McCoy eventually put the game away with his second touchdown run, taking a 49-yard run to the house to ice the game, giving the Eagles a 31-13 victory.

Next up for the Eagles is a trip to Atlanta, to face the Falcons, who were destroyed by the Bears, 30-12. For the Rams, they go to New York to face the Giants, who lost 28-14 in the hands of the Redskins.

Game Notes

- Michael Vick finished the game going 14-32, throwing for 182 yards and 2 touchdowns.

- LeSean McCoy finished with 122 yards rushing and Vick rushed for 100, first time since 2002 that the team has had two 100-yard rushers in the same game.

- Desean Jackson led all receivers with 6 receptions, 102 yards and 1 touchdown. It gave Desean twelve 100-yard games for his career.

- Rams running back Steven Jackson was diagnosed with a quadriceps injury in the first quarter and was unable to return.

- Sam Bradford had to leave the game and had X-rays done on one of the fingers on his right hand.
