Why Falcons calling out Suh was the right thing

This past week the Falcons played a tough game against the Detroit Lions. The Falcons came out victorious 23-16 headed into their bye, but not without a lot of confrontation with the two teams. Before the game the Falcons and Lions were involved in exchange of words, then during the game Matt Ryan was hurt in what seemed to be like a serious ankle injury. This is where the fun began, after the game Falcons center Todd McClure and receiver Roddy White claimed that defensive lineman Ndamukong Suh and Cliff Avril were taunting Matt Ryan while he was injured. Given Suh’s history I believe what the Falcons said.

On Monday Night Countdown Cris Carter and Tom Jackson felt that the Falcons should have addressed Suh during the game. My problem with that would have been is that if the Falcons would have addressed Suh there is a great possibility that a skirmish would have ensued resulting in penalties for both teams. The Falcons were in a close game with the Lions and any kind of penalty against the Falcons would have led to the momentum shifting to the Detroit Lions. It was smart for the Falcons to not react on the field just because this was a game that they needed, and with Matt Ryan going out of the game how much confidence can you really have in Chris Redman.
I feel that the Falcons weren’t trying to make a big deal out of what Suh and Avril were saying they were just pointing out the fact that they didn’t like it. I blame the media for escalating this into something bigger, because the Falcons know if they wanted to do something they could have, but it wasn’t the right time. Suh said that it was karma for all the bad things that the Falcons have done, and my question is this is his second year and his first time playing the Falcons, how can he know all the bad things that the Falcons have done if any. The Falcons play good aggressive football. The offensive line plays to they hear the whistle, Suh has done far more worst things in his limited time in the NFL and that is why people won’t give him the benefit of the doubt.
