Giants may have just set NFL precedent

New York Giants hats & merchandise Those who watched the Giants game against the St. Louis Rams on Monday Night Football saw what many consider to be “diving”. During the latter part of the first half offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels, and head coach Steve Spagnuolo decided to run the hurry up offense to keep New York from changing their defensive personnel. Right then is when anyone who was paying close attention saw that when the Rams were deep in the red zone two Giants players flopped on the ground, one of whom was safety Deon Grant. Now some people may not care or may even consider it to be a slick or smart move. The majority however would agree that it was quite unsportsmanlike in nature and downright poor gamesmanship.

The NFL can be placed in the group who find it to be wrong. The league issued a statement on Wednesday that if these actions are seen being performed in any game from now on that fines, suspensions, or even removal of draft picks could be punishments levied against players or teams. This is definitely a wise decision made by the league and commissioner Roger Goodell. As a major sports league that is the most popular of any right now, you certainly can’t afford any diminishing in the quality of your play, as nobody wants to view that. It will be fun to see if this continues and if a punishment is levied.
