Is the small town hero still one of the best tight ends in the NFL?

New York Jets hats New York Jets tight end, Dustin Keller has amazed his small town fans in Lafayette, Indiana with his outstanding football skills last year. But, is his big time status slowly diminishing? Why is everyone talking about the play last game that could have cause Keller a major injury? Quarterback Mark Sanchez wants Keller to get “violent on the sideline and use his body.” Keller who caught a short pass near the sideline, ran for 11 yards before coming in contact with Bills cornerback Terence McGee. Keller thought McGee would go low and jumped. McGee hit him and Keller flipped in the air landing on his head and shoulder. Luckily, Keller was fine and able to play the second half of the game. Keller received much grief from several of his teammates and especially from Coach Ryan. Was this play reckless or from lack of experience? Many say it was reckless but knowing Dustin personally, I say he just didn’t have time to think and went with his first assumption.

Will Keller take advice from his quarterback and “get violent?” He will have his chance to show off his skills when the Jets take on the Patriots during Monday night football. At least Keller has a good attitude about the game coming up next week. Keller believes that the Jets are still “the team to beat.” Keller stated, “We had that three-game skid where we were losing. We’ve been there, done that and recovered from it. So a lot of people are doubting us right now, but we know what we have to do to get back to where we need to be, and we’ve been good the last couple years, and I think we’re building on it. I think this is going to be an even bigger year for us.” It looks as if Keller is still going strong and making us Lafayette fans proud.
