2011 Draft player profiles…Prince AmukamaraIn this installment of articles we want to profile many of the players that your team could spend a draft pick on. There are many highly touted college players in this years draft but as we have seen in the past sometimes you can find that diamond in the ruff. Everyone is hoping that their team can pick that ‘can’t miss player’ and if your team is lucky enough to find that player he could change the face of the franchise for years to come. For players coming into the NFL they are looking to make a huge splash with the team that takes them but more important is winning over the fan base and impacting not only the team but also the city. Prince Amukamara Birth date: 06/06/1989 Age: 21 Hometown: Glendale, AZ School: Nebraska College Experience: 4
Amukamara was the backbone of the Nebraska secondary in 2010, he is a solid lock down corner that has incredible ball-hawking skills. Amukamara had many accolades in 2010: The Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year, he was also voted as a first team All-Big 12 selection. Amukamara in 2010 held opponents to 18 pass completions in 52 attempts, he also was among the top in the nation with 13 pass breakups with 58 tackles (36 solo). The special thing about Amukamara is his experience and his ability, he remained in college for all four seasons and is a smart player on the field. Amukamara has the skills to make a sudden impact immediately in the NFL, a good size corner that is willing to be physical (6’1” 205 lbs.) and he has the special talent to change the game. Amukamara will make any defense better with his skills as he showed at Nebraska, he is not afraid of the tough assignments, covering the top wide receiver. In my opinion, Amukamara with the right coaching and scheme can be one of the NFL’s top corners. Look for him to be challenged early and often, but look for him to be up to the challenge and via for Defensive Rookie of the Year.
