Lights, Cam, equals action… Cam Newton’s exciting start in the NFL

Let’s face it many people including myself were very weary of the first pick by the Carolina Panthers when they took the quarterback out of Auburn Cam Newton. The facts were that he played only one year in the Auburn offense, true they won the national championship and he was very dominate in that season but how would that translate into the NFL systems. I was suspect because he was a Hollywood superstar at Auburn; he was very boisterous and loud with his play in college. Usually when you have those types of players in college they have a hard time making the transition into the hard working life of an NFL player. For an NFL quarterback it is very important, for anyone to have success, they must put forth effort on and off the field, working harder and longer many times more than others. The question was could Cam, with all his accolades, all his success, all his glamour could he really be the leader of an NFL football team? On top of all those questions bring in the lockout and shortened offseason with limited time to get to connect with coaches and other players this was a recipe for disaster for Cam and the Panthers.

The thing that others cannot measure in a man is his heart, his desire to do more, his passion to be great none of those things can anyone in the media judge and for Cam Newton he has displayed these things in the first few games of this young season. Newton has taken his losses and desired to be better, he has taken his first win and vowed to do more, and above that he has won over his teammates and coaching staff by working hard and seeking to do more. There is more that must be done in order for Cam to an elite quarterback in the NFL, but for now he has made quite an impact here in Carolina. He is young and he is learning but on Sunday he threw many passes that, to be honest, did not look like a rookie. Newton is impressive not only with his talent but also with his size and athleticism let’s just say that the Panthers will be pleased for years to come. By the way my opinion of Newton has changed I think he will be successful in the NFL question is how successful will be up to him.
