Patriots’ top pick, Solder reports to practice On the practice field Solder’s size is eye catching; several Patriot defenders mentioned that it is difficult to see over the 6-8, 319 pound linemen when he is in his three point stance. Solder more than held his own against some of the veteran Patriot defensive linemen. Even though he did well in some one-on-one scrimmages, the rookie linemen still has a lot of room to improve. The good thing is that he will have time to do that with the recent re-signing of Matt Light. With Light signing for another two years, the Patriots have time for him to mentor Solder and get him some quality experience before he eventually takes over at the left tackle spot. Wearing a number 77 jersey, Solder was happy to finally be able to practice with his team. “It felt great to be out here,” Solder said. “It seems like it has been long while since I played football, too long for that matter.”
