Matt Ryan signs largest rookie contract in NFL history with Falcons

The Atlanta Falcons acquired their new face of the franchise in Aprils in the 2008 NFL Draft, and have now locked up their golden arm with a huge contract of 6 years and 71 million dollars. Some experts believe that the contract was too much for a rookie quarterback, but at this day in the NFL, money keeps players on the team. The signing of the contract so quickly represents a few important things about Ryan. One, Ryan wants to play for this team. Two, he wants to learn and get to camp as soon as possible. Three, he wants to help this team win. He could have held out like recent highly-drafted quarterbacks, but he decided to get it done as soon as possible. That to me says he is a team player. The Falcons made the right move by getting Ryan in camp on time. Due to this, the Falcons can now move the Michael Vick situation aside and focus on the new QB and face of the franchise, Matt Ryan.
