Falcons first mini camp draws large crowd
The Falcons finished their first team mini camp Saturday morning and the crowd showed up for the event. Over a thousand Falcon fans wanted to tap their curiosity Saturday morning and they weren’t disappointed. Matt Ryan took his first throws in practice as a Falcon and he didn’t disappoint either. Matt showed great accuracy on roll outs and drop backs. He had a very nice throw to Harry Douglas for a 45 yard touchdown. Chris Redman played with the first group, Joey Harrington with the second group and Matt Ryan and DJ Shockley with the third group. Michael Turner was able to show a low center of gravity, power and a burst of speed at the running back position. Jerious Norwood was seen returning punts but had troubles catching the ball. Harry Douglas shined at the slot position but the main wide receiver of the show was Roddy White. Roddy made some diving catches all over the field showing he is still the go to receiver. The offensive line looks to be bigger than years before. Quinn Ojinnka, Justin Blalock, Todd McClure, Kynan Forney and Tyson Clabo were all playing with the first unit. Keith Brooking has moved to his natural weak side line backer spot. Curtis Lofton and Tony Taylor were rotating in the middle linebacker spot. Even though certain people lined up with the first unit today, I still believe the Falcons will be looking for who will be the best player at each position.
