San Francisco Gains Overtime Win In Seattle, 33-30

All of a sudden, the 49ers (1-1) have a starting quarterback.  J.T. O'Sullivan demonstrated the type of gritty and gusty play he exhibited during the preseason in San Francisco's 33-30 overtime victory against Seattle (0-2).  Sacked eight times during the game, O'Sullivan kept his cool and went 20-of-32 for 321 yards and one touchdown.  He showed elusiveness in the pocket and made plays with decisive throws.  The 49ers haven't had this type of quarterback play in years.

Down 14-0, the 49ers rallied to take a 27-20 lead after Patrick Willis intercepted a Matt Hasselbeck pass for a touchdown and running back Frank Gore scored from two yards out. Gore rushed for 61 yards on 19 carries.

After not catching a pass against Arizona, wide receiver Isaac Bruce caught four balls for 153 yards.

The 49ers had a chance to end the game in regulation, but kicker Joe Nedney pulled a 41-yard try wide right.  In overtime, San Francisco drove 57 yards in 10 plays and Nedney knocked home the 40-yard game-winner.  Seattle didn't touch the ball in overtime.

Vowing to iron out San Francisco's offensive problems, coordinator Mike Martz did just that, even with offensive line troubles.

San Francisco's defense looked good at times, especially when they were able to put pressure on Hasselbeck.  But, Seattle running back Julius Jones rushed for 127 yards and Hasselbeck appeared quite comfortable at times.

While the 49ers might not be able to count on O'Sullivan to produce over thirty points each Sunday, they may have found a leader at the quarterback spot, which is something this team has desired since the days of Montana and Young.
