Buffalo Bills vs. Oakland Raiders previewBills Fans should prepare for excitement
GET EXCITED BILLS FANS……Not only are you 2-0, with both wins coming in impressive fashion against good teams, but you have the Raiders coming to town, and even the Bills of ‘04 could beat them. But if the Bills are what their fans want them to be, a team good enough to win the AFC East and end their 8-year playoff drought, this is a game that the Bills not just should win, but must win. Not only are the Raiders a bad tem but they are in complete shambles. I’ve never seen a team coming off a win with more of a negative feeling then the Oakland Raiders. And this week the Bills look to put the nail in the Kiffin.
The Good news for Kiffin is that after not getting fired last week, he probably won’t get fired after another win this week. The bad news is that his QB in the game will be JaMarcus Russell. I admit that coming out of college I thought he’d be nasty. I also admit that I’m not ready to give up on his career or his arm just yet, but god is awful. Were you and your friends laughing as hard as me and my friends were every time his statistics came across the bottom of the screen? In a win, he went 6/17 for 55yds. IN A WIN!!!!!! If you can’t have decent numbers in one of the only wins you’re going to get all year, you’re going to have big problems going to Buffalo and dealing with a really good Bills defense. More bad news for Kiffin, is that the only strength of his team (a solid run game), is also one of the biggest strengths for the Bills (stopping the run) The Raiders do have a solid run game, with the dynamic RUN-DMC who looks to be as good of a rookie running-back as we’ve seen dating all the way back to the ’07 season. Throw in Michael Bush and Justin Fargas, you got a really solid run game (last week they put up 300 yards) The Bills however, have one of the best run D’s in the game. They’ve held Seattle and Jacksonville, two teams with great reputations for running the ball, to 151 total rush yards total, for just 3.6 yards a carry. This year RUN-DMC is running the ball at 7yds a clip. That right there is exactly where this game will be won. If Oakland’s run game can’t single handedly win this game, the Raiders have no shot to win. Russell won’t beat the Bills in Buffalo just with his “lethal” passing attack. Who does he think he is, Trent Edwards?
Trent Edwards looks like he’s really turning the corner. Which would be a vital factor, for the Bills turning the corner. So far this year, Edwards has the 4 th best passer rating, in the AFC, at 107.7. He’s completing 70% of his passes and most importantly of all has not thrown a pick. Last week, on the road in the 4 th quarter of tight game against a solid defense, he took over marching down the field and throwing a perfect pass on what would prove to be the game-winning touchdown. If he can be counted on to win games and not just manage them, that could be the difference in this team winning 7 games and winning 10 games, winning the East and finishing 3 rd in the division, being in the playoffs and being out of the playoffs. It’s that important. The Bills are 2-0, and coming into a game they should absolutely win. Although as of now they haven’t accomplished anything yet. The last time the Bills went 2-0 they finished 6-10, last time they started 3-0 they made it to the Supper Bowl. Not to over look Oakland, but next week they play St. Louis, in another game they should absolutely win. Serious reason for excitement in Buffalo.
