Eagles give Philly fans a nice consolation prizeEagles handle Arizona 48-20, too bad it's too late Thursday night the Eagles looked like a competent team bracing themselves for the playoffs. Why it takes embarrassment to make Andy Reid to discover that balance leads to success is beyond explanation.
Donovan played well also throwing 260 yards on a 27 for 39 evening and 4 TD throws. Although not to throw a wet blanket but the 6.7 yards per attempt is still too low for an all pro QB. But 7 and up is usually the bench mark so I won't harp on 6.7 yards. It just means that the short passing is not producing the results it is supposed to. But I am not going to stab myself over that after a decent win. It was nice to see an actual fullback appear in the Eagles backfield. I am not convinced that Kyle Eckel is a long term solution but hey they have 4 more games to see how he does. Frankly I have always been a McNabb fan but the playoffs are basically flushed down the toilet 2 weeks ago. You better start Kolb and see if he is the future. Then again even if the Eagles had to draft another QB I have no faith that they could spot one coming out of college. I hope very soon the talk begins about taking Reid's GM hat away from him. Seattle did much better when Holmgren was knocked down a couple pegs. This year however his drafts and the replacement's drafts have caught up with the Seahawks. That is what is going to happen here in Philly if they don't tell Reid to stick to coaching.
And while we are on this subject. Banner needs to get out the way also and Jeffy Poo needs to hire a “real” football GM. It did wonders in Miami Jeff. Do it now before it is too late! Which it may be. But the talks better start so the new guy can start scouting NOW. At this point 9 – 6 – 1 is the ceiling with the Giants, Browns, Redskins, and Cowboys finishing out the season. The first spanking will probably be next week in NY well actually NJ. The only chance of victory against the Giants is if Coach stubborn establishes control of the game at the line of scrimmage and the defense keeps the Giants out of the end zone. Know one tells Andy what to do so I don;t expect him to give up his obsession with passing the ball 2 weeks in a row. And even against Arizona he dialed up Don for 39 attempts. Giants 37 Eagles 13. I hope I'm wrong but I doubt I am. By Andy Natalie
