Eagles Let One Get Away in Big D
The Eagles had a chance in this game to make a statement against Dallas this week and prove that they are back in the race this year, and they may have done that. Many questions still come up when talking about the Eagles as they lost the game 41-37. They had a costly turnover with 8 minutes remaining in the game when Donovan McNabb got the signals mixed up with Brian Westbrook and what is supposed to be routine turned out to be a disaster as Westbrook fumbled the ball, the Cowboys recovered the ball, and then scored on their next possession crushing any momentum that the Eagles may have had in the game.
Mistakes were aplenty however in the game between these two teams. Tony Romo reverted to his old days when he tried to make something out of nothing in his own endzone, and instead of just falling on the ball in the endzone to just make it a safety, he tried to pick it up and the ball was knocked out of his hands, and the Eagles recovered it for a touchdown and a 20-14 lead. Again mistakes, this one was a rookie mistake on the part of DeSean Jackson. After slicing right between two defenders and burning the safety, Jackson caught the ball and then he threw it backwards right BEFORE he went into the endzone dancing. The ball turned out to be downed on the one yard line and Philly would score on the next play but that is beside the point. Jackson cannot be doing these types of things in the NFL. He has had problems with that before even in high school and college so he will have to stop that stuff here.
The game was back and forth all night long, and it was exciting to say the least. I am an Eagles fan so I hate to see my team lose like that but it was a hell of a game. Donovan McNabb finished with 281 yards and a TD, Westbrook finished with 58 yards on the ground and two touchdowns and he also caught a TD and had 45 yards receiving. DeSean Jackson had his second 100 yard receiving game in a row with 110 yards off of 3 catches. On the other hand for Dallas, Tony Romo threw for 312 yards and 3 scores. Marion Barber, who was stopped for most of the night, finished with 63 yards rushing and the game winning TD. T.O. had 3 catches for 89 yards and two touchdowns in the game. Also, Eagle killer Jason Witten had 110 yards receiving in the game. Asante Samuel got his first interception for Philly and the Eagles will head to Pittsburgh next week for a game with Big Ben and the Pittsburgh Steelers while Dallas heads to Green Bay to battle Aaron Rodgers and the Packers.
