The Philly Tease-Burger

Eagles cling to unlikely playoff hope with win over G-Men

Great let us suffer over the Bengal tie even more. Hey we complain but us Philadelphians are gluttons for punishment any how. So we will take a chance for the playoffs. Hey a Sunday where the Eagles win, and the Cowboys, Giants, and Redskins all go down is always a good Sunday in Philly.

Eagles hats & merchandise Give credit where it is due also. Andy Reid put his stubborn hat down for the day and did what he had to do to beat a Super Bowl Champion team. The Eagles defense had a very good day.

And the offensive line controlled the Giants quality defensive line.

That lead to Brian Westbrook having a great day with 33 carries and 131 rushing yards. West-36 had 2 TD's, one-ith by land and one-ith by air. The Eagles had a nice 144 total rushing yards even with 1 carry going backwards 9 yards. McNabb had a quality 19 for 30 and 191 passing yards and 1 TD on a swirling windy and cold afternoon in the Meadowlands.

The defense had a blocked field goal and held the powerful Giant rushing attack to 88 total yards. Which was a total improvement over the 200 and some yards the Eagles got pasted on them by NY Blue the last time these 2 NFC EAST rivals met. They did not sack Eli Manning but they did keep him bottled up and out of sync all afternoon. They held the Giants to 211 total offensive yards.

Speaking of blocked field goals. At the end of the first half the Eagles had a 10 to 0 cushion and decided to tack on a quick 3 to end the first half. Deja vu San Fran? Yes! Akers kick ran straight into a poorly blocked Giants lineman and bounced toward the Giants Kevin Dockery who scooped up the blocked kick and headed to the end zone for a quick 6. They added the point after and instead of 13 to zip it is now 10 to 7 Eagles at the half.

What made that horrible event more putrid was Eagles Todd Herrimans had Dockery dead to rights and didn't wrap him up. Well no point crying about that anymore. I had all of half time to get over that. It wasn't easy either.

Well next up is Cleveland. Which stinks because they should win this one and leave us with ulcers against Washington and Dallas! Can you tell I grew up in Philly?
