Panthers fall on OT to G-Men
The New York Giants showed the NFC and the rest of the League that they are not quite ready to ride off into the Sunset. Rushing for over 300 yards against the Carolina Panthers and coming from behind to win, made a clear statement.
The Panthers offense played well enough to win most games but the defense looked very soft up the middle. They were really missing injured defensive tackle Ma'ake Kemoeatu who is their best run stopper. However the Panthers have not been a good tackling team for some time and he wouldn’t have made that much of a difference. Local fans and media are blaming the Panthers loss to the Giants on lack of a killer instinct. The Panthers get a lead then go too conservative and let teams come back. Of course they same fans love “Fox Ball” when the team wins. The biggest reason for the loss was the return of injured Giants Running Back Brandon Jacobs. His 87 yards on (and 3 touchdowns) on a 24 carries wore out the Panthers. Ward was able to run wild for 215 yards because the Panthers were tired of hitting big Jacobs.
