Baltimore Ravens @ Houston Texans football preview

Ravens head to Houston to take on Texas in Week #2

Coming off a gutsy win over reeling Cincinnatti, the Ravens have a chance to build some momentum. And coming off an 5 and 11 season last year that would be a welcome change.

Baltimore Ravens hats Although Joe Flacco didn't light up the air last week he did get some jitters out and logged some experience as an NFL starter. He showed a nice composure for a rookie from a small school like Delaware. Most important it seemed he got his teammates convinced that he cam lead them. Le'Ron McClain the 2nd year 260 pd running back from Alabama also showed some reliability and also seemed to leave some growing room for the rookie running back Ray Rice out of Rutgers. So the Baltimore backfield is raw and young but not intimidated to try and win at the next level.

And beating Cincinnati is not winning a Super Bowl it is a divisional win. Now they fly to Houston to take on a mediocre Texans team. Pittsburgh demonstrated in week 1 that the Texans are vulnerable to the run and Flacco should be able to have another week where he can throw at carefully chosen times during the game. So even if the TExans game plan is to use their strength of pass rushing to rattle the kid they won't have many opportunities.

And the Ravens defense will hardly have difficulty against an puttering offense like Houston's. Yes the Ravens are not the great D of the early 2000's but they are plenty for the Texans.

I see this as a good game to watch though because Flacco has a bit of charisma to him and the Ravens desperately want to start off the season with a few wins while the opportuniy is there for the taking.
