Ravens corral TexansBaltimore brands 41 to the Texans
Don't look now but the Ravens are in a tie for first place in the AFC North with the Pittsburgh Steelers. And they are doing it with defense and offense. No really ......... and offense. Heading into the game we knew that the Texans have proven that they can move the ball and they did just that on Sunday. They tallied an impressive 355 total yards against a superlative Ravens defense. 280 in the air off of the arm of Houston QB Sage Rosenthals. But the Ravens had the last laugh as they picked him off 4 times. Ray Lewis had 2 of them. They held the Texans to 1 touchdown and 2 field goals. The Ravens held the Texans to 75 yards of rushing. This supplemented the 162 yards of rushing the Ravens backfield piled up with Willis McGahee back in his work horse role. Willis finished the day with 112 yards from 25 carries and twice ended in the end zone. A little love to Ravens back up QB for throwing a TD pass. Also a shout out to Steven Hauschka for kicking a 54 yard field goal for the Ravens. Kudos to the Ravens offense who overall had 333 yards and 27 first downs.
Over all this Ravens team is gaining needed confidence and learning how to win as a team. This is also a road victory which quite frankly is important if you have your sights on a deep playoff run. True this was a weaker NFL opponent but in this league there are no easy victories. Even against the Lions or Bengals you have to execute. This recent stretch gave the Ravens the head of steam they needed because now they have to go to house of Giants. Yes next stop Super Bowl Champs. Now we will see how far we have come.
