See-Saw Struggle in Heinz Field
Steelers rpeserve for a 20-13 win over dallas
Of course I am happy with any quality win and this one is no different. This also makes the Steelers an even 2 and 2 against the toughest division in the NFL. I am just not sure what to take out of this win.
On one hand you had a defensive toe to toe style game. The perennial Pittsburgh “ D ” keeping the Cowboys offense down. In fact causing 5 turnovers and sacking Tony Romo 3 times. On the other hand the Steelers offense failed to make Dallas pay for those turnovers.
In fact in the first half I felt the Steelers blew the game by letting the Cowboys hang around. The Steelers should have built a lead in the first half but did not. Some of that I will admit was due to the Cowboys defense also playing at a very high level.
Neither offense in fact had a big day because of the other teams defense. But I also think you could argue that Pittsburgh shot themselves in the foot a few times also. Not punching it in for a score in the 4 th quarter from a yard out was not a good sign the way the game was going.
The 8 play, 67 yard, 3:06 drive ending with a Heath Miller TD was huge however. While the offense struggled most of the day this drive proved that the Steelers were resilient and have a fight to the end mentality. This tied the game at 13 and put the game into a winnable category for the Steelers.
As it it turned out the defense, who was close to busting something all day, got a big INT from Deshea Townsend who closed the deal by toting the rock all the way to the bank for a pick 6 and the win.

Stat wise this was not a good box score for either team. Both teams were held to sub 100 yards on the ground. And both Roethlisbureger and Romo were not impressive stat wise. However both QB's did have some big plays.
The should have been a sack turned into a TD throw to T.O play by Romo was quite a play. Ben had a couple nice runs and a big 47 yard toss to Puffy Holmes in the 3 rd quarter.

I should of course mention that the weather was brutal and probably had an effect on some of the execution on the field. Although I found kind of humorous that tony Romo who grew up in cold weather was acting like he had never been in the cold. The story is he was raised in Wisconsin idolizing Brett Favre.
Next week is big. Baltimore has been biting at our ankles all season and really need to beat Pittsburgh next week to have a chance to win the division. The Steelers however need to push the Ravens off the hill that they are King of. We also need to get some home games in the playoffs.
I am still worried about our inconsistent offense however. We can talk about that some more later.
