10. Dante Lavelli-WR

Lavelli was one of the first true wide receivers to ever play the game had the nickname “glue fingers” he and Otto Graham were true powerhouses.

 

9. Leroy Kelly-RB

Kelly was small in stature but his heart was huge, his first full season he had 1507 all purpose yards with 16 touchdowns, he was elected to the Pro Bowl 6 times.

 

8. Gene Hickerson-OL

The power running game of the Browns depended upon this man; he spent 15 years with Cleveland and was a dominant force up front and if you look at the history of the running backs you can understand why.

 

7. Bill Willis-DL

Willis was small for a lineman but he focused on technique and leverage, he was a fierce competitor and a tackling machine for the Cleveland defense.

 

6. Bernie Kosar-QB

Kosar led the Browns to back to back AFC championship games, Bernie will go down as the most unforgettable quarterbacks for the Cleveland Browns (where many of the quarterbacks are very forgettable)over his career he had 124 touchdowns and over 23,301 yards.

5. Ozzie Newsome-WR

Newsome was a 3 time Pro Bowler, he was nicknamed “Wizard of Oz” he made the uncatchable very catchable as a wide receiver. A member of 80’s all decade team; over his career he had 662 receptions with 7980 yards and 47 touchdowns.

 

4. Lou Groza-OL and K

Groza was multi talented and you have to be to play offensive line and kicker as a professional football player, Groza was one of the most clutch kickers ever to play the game and you can tell with a nickname like “the toe” he was elected to 9 Pro Bowls and led the league in field goals for 5 years.

 

3. Marion Motley-FB

Motley was a power back and he was built to run over you but could also run away from you. In 1950 he led the league in rushing with 810 yards. One of the first African-American players to play at the professional level, he was an excellent pass blocker and even played linebacker in the league.

 

2. Otto Graham-QB

Probably the greatest QB in Cleveland Brown history in 10 seasons with the team, he complied a 105-17-4 record and was crowned league MVP 3 times. He was elected to the Pro Bowl 5 times in his career he passed for over 13,000 yards and had 872 completions.

 

 

1. Jim Brown-RB

Brown was a monster running back, he holds many of the teams records, over his career he has 12,312 rushing yards, 106 touchdowns with 5.2 yards per rush. He won the league MVP 3 times and was selected to the Pro Bowl 9 times in his 9 seasons and just think he retired at the age of 29.

Cleveland has had a hard time coming about success in the NFL as of late; they have finished of the recent years at best with an 8-8 record, but with little results. They have struggled at the position of quarterback over the years and if they find that missing piece it could be the key.
