Bears Mending Injuries, Looking for Momentum

Leading up to Week 4, the Chicago Bears are highly concerned with their battered linebacking corps. With Brian Urlacher already out for the season, Pisa Tinoisamoa sidelined due to a knee injury and Hunter Hillenmeyer’s status uncertain after sustaining a rib injury in last week’s victory over the Seattle Seahawks, head coach Lovie Smith and the rest of Bears management signed linebacker Darrell McClover and waived cornerback DeAngelo Smith. McClover was released by the Bears after their preseason finale this year.

As for the offense, Chicago hopes to continue to add to the momentum they have had the past two weeks, especially in the passing game. Jay Cutler just might have a field day when he steps on the field against the Detroit Lions defense that ranks 30 th in the league in pass defense, giving up 278.7 yards per game. As for the running game, Matt Forte just might get his first 100-yard game of the season while running against a Detroit run defense that is giving up 111.3 yards per game.

So far, this can be seen as the Bears’ biggest game of the year. With the Green Bay Packers and the Minnesota Vikings squaring off this Monday night, there is a strong possibility that there could be a three-way tie for first place in the NFC North. For that to happen, the Bears and the Packers must win this week.
