Indianapolis Colts vs Baltimore Ravens Recap

Colts 17 - Ravens 15

Colts hats & merchandise On Sunday the Indianapolis Colts traveled to Baltimore to take on the Ravens, in a battle of the minds, Peyton Manning and his offensive “score at all times” mentality versus Ray Lewis and his defensive “shut them down” stance. This game was a Colts win on paper, but games are played on the field and boy was this a good one. It looked as though in the start of the game that the Colts would run away with the game, Manning hit Dallas Clark in the corner of the end zone with a one handed grab. Just as you thought this would be an easy Indy win that Ravens defense stepped up and began to make plays. They put pressure on Manning and disguised their coverage forcing Manning to throw two interceptions, they also forced a fumble and with three turnovers you would think the Ravens would be sitting pretty, man was that wrong. They could not convert the turnovers into touchdowns and that ultimately hurt them and is what cost them the win.

As the Ravens defense stepped up, the offense was lacking greatly, aside from Derrick Mason and his 140+ yards receiving and Ray Rice with his efforts rushing they could not put it in the end zone. The Ravens settled for five field goals from newly acquired Billy Cunduff formerly of the Dallas Cowboys. When the Colts turned the ball over the Ravens could only get six points on two of the turnovers, and on one of the turnovers, Cunduff missed a chip shot field goal. The Ravens had two opportunities to score, one with only a couple of minutes left in the game but Gary Brackett intercepted Joe Flacco inside the Colts twenty yard line, and the next opportunity came with twenty seconds remaining, the Colts punted the ball away to Ed Reed and as he fielded the punt and was wrapped up he tried a lateral to another Ravens player only to have the Colts recover the fumble, thus ending the game; the Indianapolis Colts come out on top with a score of 17-15, in a hard fought battle.

The Colts continue to press ahead as they remain undefeated on the year. Peyton Manning and his corps of receivers continue to make the right plays at the right time. With Dallas Clark and Reggie Wayne making big things happen you can believe that the Colts will continue to roll. That Colt defense has made the big plays and always does what it needs to do to make the winning plays. Next the Indianapolis Colts will take on the Houston Texans in a divisional battle which should be a good match up.
