JETS AIM FOR AFC TITLE IN INDY
Are you kidding me?
ARE YOU KIDDING ME?
As Rex Ryan said following the Charger game, “It’s the matchup that probably nobody wanted, but too bad here we come.”
If you would have told me ten weeks ago that this Jets team would be one game from the Super Bowl, I would have given you a more confused look than I gave the TV when I first saw Michael Jackson’s “Black or White” video. You don’t even see a grown man touch his crotch that much in a porno movie.
Last week the Jets went to Ron Burgandy’s hometown and played Rex Ryan Jets football. They hit those suckers in the mouth. The Jets defensive scheming took Philip Rivers out of his game and rattled him. Rivers was not in Pro Bowl form as usual and threw two picks, swaying momentum in the Jets favor. LaDainian Tomlinson may have already been in a coffin, but on Sunday the Jets defense locked it up and buried it deep underground. The Jets defense did what they do. They attacked the Chargers and kept them on their toes giving the Jets offense a chance to take care of business.
The Jets stuck to what has made them successful. A part of me thinks the intensity and toughness of the defense has transferred to the other side of the ball. The Jets play smash mouth offense. They tell the opponent this is what we do, we run the football, now try to stop it. Simply put, the mark left on the Qualcomm Stadium turf by Shonn Greene’s tire tracks proves the Chargers couldn’t do it. Mark Sanchez made some nice plays when he had to and is starting to realize that he doesn’t have to be Peyton Manning to perhaps beat Peyton Manning.

Overall, this Jets team is a lot of fun to root for. Including this year, the Jets have been this far in the playoffs TWO times. What a team. This team tries to punish the opponent and have been exceeding expectations. Rex Ryan doesn’t care who is on the schedule. He is not afraid of anyone and in turn the team has taken his lead and that is why this team has a chance to get the Super Bowl.
The Jets will have to play near flawless football to come away with the AFC crown on Sunday. Each week Peyton Manning adds to his resume as one of the greatest to ever play the game. Mark Sanchez is far from that distinction. In order to come away with a victory, the Jets need to keep on doing what they’re doing (Namely somehow forcing the other team’s kicker to miss routine field goal attempts).
To win this game the Jets must get after Peyton Manning and hit him. Barring injury, the Colts won’t be pulling him in the third quarter this time around. Offensively, the Jets will try to run the Colts into submission. The Jets win ugly and for some reason I like that. I don’t know what that says about me, or my dating prospects, but if we go to the Super Bowl I don’t care all that much.
As with last weeks column where I didn’t pick the game and had success on the field I will abstain. Let’s hope they keep things going because if not I may be on suicide watch.
Go Jets!
VIVA SANCHEZ!
