One question remains from Week 1: What the hell happened?

The Jets head home to play the New England Patriots and I am somewhat confident to the point where I just typed that last phrase with no hesitation and I’m not even drunk. I’ve had a couple sure, but I would definitely pass a breathalyzer. The Patriots looked shaky last week I’m not going to lie. They looked like me on prom night only minus the glasses and the fact that I didn’t finish the night as a “winner” if you know what I mean. Still they are the Patriots. This team won 11 games with Matt Cassel starting at quarterback last season. Let’s face it, them winning this division is as much of a lock as me buying a” Seinfeld” based porn if it is put in front of my face. Not that there’s anything wrong with that.

I wrote an article last week, that wasn’t published by the way, where I was actually scared of the Texans. Why may you ask? Because everything is bigger in Texas, except of course for Rex Ryan because he is just as big in Texas as he is in New Jersey.

It’s a good thing my article from last week wasn’t printed because for some reason I stupidly referred to Matt Schaub as a “top ten QB when healthy” because his chances of being mentioned with the names Brady, Manning, Roethlisberger, and Rivers are about as likely as CJ from the “Real World” and “signs with NFL team” being mentioned in the same sentence. The Schauber looked worse last week than Brett Favre in that Best Buy commercial. We get it Brett, you’re a scumbag. Now leave us alone. The Texans offense last week was anemic, but they had the Jets defense to thank. Rex Ryan made the right calls all day. Going into last week, the thought of the Jets dominating like they did was almost as ridiculous as “More to Love” actually airing a complete season, but they did.

Mark Sanchez looked like the veteran. He got in a groove faster than Taye Diggs and yes I’m leaving that joke in. Jets fans are excited and rightly so. The kid is throwing bullets and giving “NFL Live” hours of programming. Sanchez looks great and Jets fans are getting excited. I debated buying $300 worth of Mark Sanchez apparel after last week’s game including some sort of sombrero and a horchata.

Why shouldn’t fans be excited? It’s the home opener and the Jets smoked the Texans last week…AT Texan. I’m pretty sure Norman is in Gate D drinking some Johnny Walker Red as we speak. It’s Jets football baby. This will probably be the best moment of the season so I’m going to enjoy it.

I can’t even temper my excitement for this Patriots game. The Pats aren’t really scaring me. They were unimpressive Monday night. Unimpressive to the point where they lost me some cash, so I have yet another reason to hate “the hoody” as my boy Jim Rome calls him.

Tom Brady owns the Jets and the Patriots will look to exploit that fact. How should the Jets expect to stop Brady when they have never really done it?

Rex Ryan has his work cut out for him this week. But, the fact remains although he may consider himself inferior to Belichick to the press, he has won over a lot of Jets fans.

Go Jets.

VIVA SANCHEZ!

The Prediction

Pats 21

Jets 17

Let’s pray that I’m wrong
