All Access NFL MVP: Take your pick
In my opinion the MVP race in the National Football League comes down to three guys. It seems as though all the talk around the league has been about these three men. And of course you know I am talking about Peyton Manning, Brett Favre, and Drew Brees. In this article I am going to make a case for each individual, now I know who my pick will be but I would like for you to choose for yourself who you think the MVP of the league should be. Now remember MVP stands for Most Valuable Player, someone that the team could not be without and have the same results and success that they are having this year. We will also look at each individual statistics and by the end of this article maybe you will make your mind up or possibly have your mind changed by the information written here. DREW BREES - #9 - QB - NEW ORLEANS SAINTS First we have the young gun, Drew Brees. Drew has led his New Orleans Saints to a perfect 11-0 record this season. The biggest win for the Saints came against the New England Patriots on Monday Night Football, as they hammered Bill Belichick and his crew. Brees threw for over 300 yards and 5 touchdowns in this game; even more impressive is each touchdown pass was to a different receiver. New Orleans has a ton of talent, the receivers are big, strong and fast a lethal combination, especially when you have a gun slinger like Brees throwing the ball. You could make an argument that Brees has a solid supporting cast around him, but having Brees most definitely makes his receivers and backs better and could possibly earn some a spot on the pro bowl roster. Here are Drew Brees stats: TD’s: 27 - Int’s: 9 - Yards: 3,117 - QB rating: 112.6 His stats are really impressive and he could be having the best year of his career time will tell, he is still relatively young and his cast and crew are also young that could be bad news for others around the league for a long time to come.
BRETT FAVRE - #4 - QB - MINNESOTA VIKINGS Say what ever you will about Brett Favre, he is too old, he is an ego-maniac, he is a glory hound, you can say what you want but one thing you must say is that Favre is playing out of his mind this season. To come in to this year and find his rhythm at age 40 and maintain that same rhythm is unbelievable. There were many questions coming into the season about Favre, could he last, is he the right fit, can he win in Minnesota and I believe he is answering all of those questions and then some. Favre is doing things at 40 years old that most quarterbacks in their 20’s can’t do. Here are Brett Favre’s stats: TD’s: 24 - Int’s: 3 - Yards: 2,874 - QB rating: 112.1 It’s funny, Favre’s best games of the season have come against his former team the Green Bay Packers (surprise, surprise); he is making a believer out of all those who doubted him and he is making a believer out of me. He is at the top of his game and the Vikings are reaping the benefits. Favre definitely has the cast and crew around him to make a Super Bowl run, lets face it when you have Adrian Peterson in the backfield it makes it easier.
PEYTON MANNING - #18 - QB - INDIANAPOLIS COLTS Finally we have the consummate professional Peyton Manning. The most cerebral and game savvy quarterback in the NFL, no doubt. Manning has done more with little than most, with his crew of rookie wide receivers he has amazed and wowed people with his stellar play. The Indianapolis Colts are a perfect 11-0 right now and it has been greatly attributed to Manning and his ability to go beyond just the norm. Manning has always been a winner he has pushed himself to learn more and to do more than just be an average or even good quarterback. All this with an absence of a running game, teams know what he is going to do and they still can’t stop it. With veterans Reggie Wayne and Dallas Clark by his side Manning and the Colts have found their rhythm and they play the same old song every week. Here are Peyton Manning’s stats: TD’s: 24 - INT’s: 11 - Yards: 3,415 - QB rating: 102.5 Manning was on fire early in the season passing for 300 yards in his first 5 games of the season. Manning’s best game came against the Arizona Cardinals where he passed for 379 yards and 4 touchdowns. He can read defenses and he can find the weakness and for him defensive coordinators stay awake at night thinking of how to defend, but with no avail. Manning is an amazing quarterback with amazing skills maybe the best ever but is he worthy of the MVP? So there you have it, three incredible quarterbacks but only one will be the MVP of the league. So you tell me who is your pick? All three are outstanding at their position, and all three have amazing stats through only 11 games, which is more valuable to their team? Is it the young gun slinger, is it the 40 year old with the rocket arm, or is it the cerebral assassin, take your pick. No matter which you choose you can’t go wrong. In case you were wondering, I go with Manning.
