Top Ten Oakland Raiders
The silver and black, like many teams in the NFL, have a rich football tradition. As of recent years that dynasty has diminished but the Raiders and their fans are a strong group that will be looking to rebound and comeback strong. Here are the Raiders top ten players of all-time:
10. Steve Wisniewski-OL
A beast of a man on the offensive line, many called him on of the dirtiest players in the NFL. He was selected to 8 straight Pro Bowls and to the 90’s all-decade team.
9. Greg Townsend-DL
Townsend was an All-Pro four times and was constantly disrupting opposing offenses. Over his career Townsend recorded over 109 sacks, 3 interceptions and 4 touchdowns. He was the best of what a Raider defensive lineman should be on the field.
8. Tim Brown-WR
Tim Brown was an excellent possession wide receiver for the Raiders, if you needed a first down; Brown could and would get it. Over his career he caught 1,094 balls giving him 14,934 yards and 100 touchdowns. Brown was electrifying and always had a passion for the game.
7. Ray Guy-P
If you ask, he was regarded as the best punter in NFL history, selected to 7 Pro Bowls and the 70’s all-decade team; he was the ultimate field position changer. He punted for 1,049 times for over 44,493 yards with a 42.4 average.
6. Marcus Allen-RB
Allen was a solid back for the Raiders and it showed on the field of play, he played for the Raiders for 10 years. He gathered over 12,000 yards on the ground with 123 touchdowns; he also is a Hall of Famer.

5. Gene Upshaw-OL
Upshaw was a fierce blocker on the field for the Raiders, when he got the running back got the ball he knew what to do. He was selected to 6 Pro Bowls and played in 2 Super Bowls. He made the 70’s all-decade team and was on the NFL’s 75th Anniversary Team.
4. Jack Tatum-DB
Possibly the hardest hitter ever to play in the NFL, Tatum knocked out many and even ended a few careers. He was named to only 3 Pro Bowls and was the Defensive Back of the Year for 1973. Over his career Tatum intercepted 37 balls and had 1 touchdown.
3. Art Shell-OL
A massive man, Art Shell was selected to 8 Pro Bowls and to the 70’s all-decade team. He was also the Raiders head coach and won NFL coach of the year in 1990, leading the Raiders to the AFC championship game.
2. Fred Biletnikoff-WR
Too slow and just too small, that is what scouts said about Biletnikoff, and boy did he prove them wrong. In his career he caught 589 passes with 8,974 yards and 76 touchdowns, also winning the Super Bowl MVP against the Vikings in 1977.
1. Howie Long-DE
Possibly the most famous Raider of all-time, Howie Long was what the Raiders organization wanted every player to be tough, aggressive and mean. Long played his entire career with the Raiders he was elected to 8 Pro Bowls and the 80’s all-decade team. In his career Long recorded 91.5 sacks with 2 interceptions, he was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2000.
The Raiders are looking to return to prominence in the next couple of years, with some key free agent pick ups and quality drafts the Raiders could be a force in a few seasons.
